May 2, 2007

Friday night we sang at the Java House coffee and sandwich shop in South Lyon, MI.  It is right across the street from my parent’s house and is one of the nicest Christian establishments that we have been to.  There were quite a few people there that we had never met, which is great because it expands our area of ministry.  We sang for two hours and during that time, the Lord’s Spirit was so evident!  As people came and went, there was a core group that just sat and worshipped with us.  Whether they sang or just listened, you could tell they were connecting with the Lord.  We love it when this happens!   We even met two couples that we will be with on the National Day of Prayer.  We are excited to see them on Thursday.

Sunday morning we led a concert of prayer service at Highland Congregational Church in Highland, MI.  We go to this church about twice per year and just love this group.  They usually have a hand bell choir play, which we enjoy and there is always a potluck!  We used the time to pray for salvation, spiritual healings, physical healings (and we anointed with oil), leadership and government and marriages/families.  It was awesome to meet with people at the altar and pray specifically for tough situations.  This was extremely invigorating and we expect the Lord to answer prayers.

From there we went to Novi United Methodist Church, about 25 minutes away.  Our first time there, we were welcomed and received quite well and already invited back.  This was more of a “concert” as they have two per year.  We met some of the nicest people and had a great time of worship and celebration.  One of the couples, (who were just visiting for the evening) were very appreciative of our ministry and have decided to support us monthly!  What a blessing it is to trust in the Lord with all of our hearts!

As you pray for us this week, please ask the Lord to fill the empty holes in our Fall schedule.  Thank you!

Let us encourage you to trust the Lord, for He is faithful!   Have a great week!

May 12, 2007

We had a very busy weekend, which led into a very busy week!

Wednesday through Friday I helped some friends from Florida, Fred and Salena Waller, with their four booths at the annual Women’s Show at the Rock Financial Showplace.  They have a boutique in Jacksonville, Florida, but come to Novi to sell at this huge event.  This is the second time I have worked for them selling handbags and jewelry (you know I love this!) and if we are in town in November, I will do it again.  I loved them when I first met them, and now I love them even more.  We had great conversations about the Lord, and as they are Jewish by faith, we had a lot to talk about.  They have fascinating stories about growing up in NYC and moving their business to Florida.  Great people.

Thursday night I left Fred and Salena and met Randy and the kids at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Northville for the National Day of Prayer service.  Pastor Jared is so kind and he has a lovely wife with five beautiful children.  This is the first time this church has done something like this and they were so glad they did.  Several visiting pastors came to participate with us as well as Michigan Senator Vlade Garcia.  We were able to pray with him and for him, which was quite an honor.  Kennedie ended up becoming friends with the Pastor’s daughter and went to their house on Friday.

Saturday found us dropping off the kids with friends in Holly, MI and then driving right up the road to Linden to sing for a 50th wedding anniversary.  Hugh and Lois Carlson are dear friends from the past and we were a surprise for them.  As we talked on the way home, Randy and I were both thinking the same thing that day as we sang for the Carlson’s.  You just never know how the Lord is going to use you to reach people.  We believe that the Lord worked in the lives of some of those people and it was an honor to speak words of truth and appreciation to a couple that has kept their covenant.

From there, we picked up the kids and raced over to Keego Harbor to sing for three hours at the Divine Caffe'.  We haven’t been there in a while and it was so good to see people we haven’t seen all winter.  We love the Divine family and we love to serve them by using our gifts to encourage their patrons.

Sunday morning we had to be in Waterford at 8:30 AM, which meant very little sleep and sore voices!  1st General Baptist Church has had us several times before and it was a pleasure to go back again.  The people seemed to participate in worship with us even more this time and we are recognizing faces.  We love Pastor Miller and his wife, Laura, who has come to our Pastor’s Wives’ fellowships.  She is just a doll and so is her daughter, Casey, whose bridal shower was right after church.  So, we grabbed a quick bite of lunch on the way home, changed clothes and Kennedie and I headed back to Rock Financial to help Fred and Salena.  Later, Randy came (we farmed KC out to the folks) and helped with all of the huge displays.  We finished by 10:00 PM and we all went to eat with Fred and Salena.  Thankful for more time with them, we hope ministry opportunities open for us in Florida so that we can visit with them again, soon.

We pray your week has gone well and that you are looking forward to worshipping with your church family tomorrow.  Blessings!
