We spent the weekend in Byron Center, Michigan with High Pointe Community Church. Terry Bate, the associate pastor and his wife, Tammy, hosted us for dinner along with another family on Saturday evening. We were with this church family almost a year and a half ago and the second time around was even sweeter. Saturday night was spent in the Bate’s home eating dinner and letting all of the kids play together. Some of our favorite times are when we are able to just sit on the couch and hear about life in a specific church body. As we were loading up all of the kids to head to the local ice cream joint, a call came in reporting that one of the church families was in a very serious car accident while traveling. An emergency c-section had to be performed and last we heard, mom, dad, sister and new baby (30 weeks in gestation) were all stable. Please pray for this family and especially the new baby as there was at least 45 minutes without blood to the brain. God still does miracles and we are praying for one now.
Sunday morning brought excitement to all be together worshipping the Lord and the church was in shock as the news of their loved ones was revealed. Pastor Kip shared from his heart and encouraged the church body to pray like never before. A prayer vigil was organized (constant prayer for the next week – 24/7) and most of the slots were taken immediately following the service. Our job was to lead worship and encourage the congregation in spite of what had occurred the night before. I must say that the people were very responsive and easy to lead in worship. We love the west side of the state and look forward to returning to High Pointe. What lovely people!
Our next few days were spent in my fourth grade teacher’s home, house-sitting as they enjoyed a trip to Switzerland. A beautiful home, it was a treat for us to spread out and be able to plan for our upcoming weekend. Plans were underway for our Supporter’s Appreciation Dinner on Saturday, September 6th. It was an event to mark our first twenty years in ministry! Not only so, but to thank those supporters who have gone “above and beyond!” Saturday turned out to be a lovely day with the best weather imaginable and the evening was everything we had hoped it to be. Thank you, Randy and Debbie Osterlund for the use of your gorgeous home and property. What an evening it was!
We have so much to be grateful for and we have enjoyed saying “thank-you!”

Sunday morning we worshipped with Davisburg United Methodist Church in Davisburg, Michigan. Coming off of the Supporter’s Appreciation Dinner, we were a bit tired, but reeling from the night before. We have been to this church a few times now, and every time we return, we are greeted with such warmth and excitement. We truly feel the Spirit of the Lord in this church and we are so grateful that we have the opportunity to worship with them. Pastor Bill Steitz is currently in Israel so we enjoyed praying for him and his once-in-a-lifetime experience. The whole morning went well and we were very blessed to experience the grace of God yet again. I cannot imagine being outside of the body of Christ and missing out on the fellowship that comes from being with family. What a joy to worship together!
Have a wonderful week!
