We are alive and well…I know you faithful readers were wondering!
We are back in Fort Worth, Texas and it is going to be hot today. Yesterday was 104 degrees and it is only getting hotter! Thankfully, the air conditioning is working well and as long as the RV is plugged into electricity we will be fine.
We have been busy with ministry, but the Lord was gracious and gave us one Sunday off. It is always a bit disheartening to be “sitting” somewhere with no concert. Although the rest is wonderful, our preference is to be put to work. Sometimes we are not able to book a certain Sunday and the Lord gives us a break. So, Memorial Day weekend was our Sunday off and we enjoyed it with family in Cookeville, TN. Attending their church, we sat and worshipped without having to do a thing in the service for the first time in what seems like a year. It is very rare that a Sunday is not booked and it was a welcomed day.
The Lord keeps stretching us and proving that ministry rarely looks the same and we are to be ready to encourage anyone that we meet. All along the way, we have opportunities to tell people about our love for the Lord and the blessing of working for Him. Then, we get to remind them that He loves them and has a plan. But, I must be honest and say that as I look back over the last month, a couple of missed opportunities to share the Lord come to mind. I can think of two people that I could have really told about Jesus and I didn’t. And those are just the ones that I can think of. I was tired. I was into myself and busy. But more than that, I was tired. That must be one of the reasons that Jesus went away alone to pray. He had to refuel and be alone with His father.
Do you ever get away from that? Needing alone time with the Lord? My experience has been that the older I get the more alone time I need with Him. Somehow, days rush by and turn into weeks that turn into months and I get tired. This relationship thing with Jesus is ongoing and we will go through different seasons. For me, this season has been about coming back to the basics. Life in Christ. Simple belief. Unashamed proclamation of who He is. Unwavering trust.
We are preparing for a summer of ministry and if you check our calendar, you will see the opportunities that lie ahead of us. Please pray for us. We need energy, strength, endurance, faith, patience and a passion to encourage the church body. As many of you know, we left our home area of Michigan on December 28th and we won't be back until August. Your prayers and encouragement mean the world to us. Thank you!
